A MAN was taken to hospital as a main West Somerset road was blocked for several hours on Monday morning (January 15) following a serious car crash.

The incident happened on the A358 on Halsway Hill, close to the turn-off for Halsway Lane, at about 9.30 am.

Two vehicles were believed to have been in collision, resulting in the road being closed in both directions and lengthy queues of traffic building up.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesperson said: “One man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing.”

The wreckage was cleared and the road was reopened at about 12.15 pm.
