THE federated primary schools of Crowcombe and Stogumber have been praised for their academic achievement, their standards of behaviour and their care for pupils.

The two Church of England linked schools have been judged good in all areas by Ofsted inspectors in separate inspections carried out last November.

The rating - just one step away from outstanding - marks the significant improvement made by the schools since their last inspections when they were judged satisfactory.

Inspectors rated them good for their overall effectiveness, achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.
