CATS and dogs were the guests of honour when Minehead's Methodist Church threw open its doors for a special pet service last Sunday.
The event - held for the first time last year - attracted at least 16 dogs and four cross cats in cages, along with their owners and other regular members of the congregation.
The service was led by the Rev Justine Richards, who kept order from the pulpit as the pets lined up to hear the sermon.
And one of the canines even found his voice and joined in the hymn singing.

"Unfortunately we only had dogs and cats - we had been hoping for a snail and someone had hinted they might bring their horse.
"But it was marvellous to see so many pets and and we hope people may be encouraged to bring others next year.
"All the animals were remarkably well behaved and there were no fights at all."
