THE first-ever Minehead Bay Festival will be held next month, providing a free community event on the town’s seafront.

Project co-ordinator Zara Aitken, of Minehead and Coast Development Trust, said it would be a celebration of Minehead’s local art, culture, and wellness scene.

The trust has partnered with Kite Project, East Quay, Watchet, and Minehead Eye to bring the festival to Minehead seafront.

The festival will feature activities for all the family, ranging from circus performances and entertainment by Higher Beings Circus to live music and dance performances.

World champion sand sculptor Nicola Wood will be attending and running some sand sculpting workshops on the beach and creating a unique sculpture just for Minehead.

An arts workshop tent will be put up by East Quay, and other attractions include wellness activities such as immersive storytelling and gong baths and yoga classes, and free skating tuition by pro skaters on a portable skate ramp.

An ‘urban arts’ area will be set up for people to watch professional street artists such as Teddy Baden and Charlie Mcfarley painting large murals live on the day.

The festival takes place on Saturday, September 3 and will last from 12 noon to 6pm.
