SIR — I read and totally agreed with Ros Robinson's praise for the wonderful Dream Garden at Dunster Castle (Your Letters September 17).
Strangely enough we had discovered this gem of a garden on Saturday afternoon before reading the paper.
With the magical backdrop of Dunster Church, this garden definitely deserves a special mention and I was most impressed by other improvements in the castle gardens.
Blenheim Gardens and the town centre displays are also worthy of great praise, but my heart sinks these days when I walk through The Parks towards Woodcombe.
When I was younger they were always immaculate with colourful displays of flowers and bushes, and the paths were always well cared for.
One particularly awful round bed at the Minehead end was, to our joy, finally emptied of its nondescript plants earlier this year, but absolutely nothing has been put in since and it now sports a fine display of weeds.
Please, please don't neglect this wonderful green area which gives residents and holidaymakers alike a delightful walk out of town.
Whilst writing, I would also like to make the point that many a Sunday in peaceful Woodcombe/Hopcott is now ruined by the ghastly noise of droning bikes which race through the fields above the Porlock road from early morning to late afternoon, virtually non-stop.
For those of us who treasure the peace of Sunday and the tranquillity of Woodcombe, this strikes me as little other than noise pollution of the worst kind - should we really have to put up with this on a regular basis?
Caroline Nott,
Woodcombe.
