SIR — I did not witness Sunday's tragic accident at Carhampton and do not know who, if anyone, was at fault.

The motorcyclist's death is in any event a tragedy and the crash clearly endangered the coach passengers and people in the village.

That same day, travelling on the three o'clock bus to Taunton, I had 75 minutes to witness several motorbikers dodging the oncoming traffic as they wove in and out of the stream of vehicles in each direction.

Revving and roaring, they showed complete disregard for the throng of other road users - pedestrians, cyclists, livestock, wildlife and, of course, other drivers, including responsible bikers.

It is very hard to read a bike number plate at speed. Isn't it time to bring back the speed cameras?
