SUPERMARKET chain Morrisons has confirmed that its Minehead store is not one of 11 earmarked for closure.

The company announced the closure plan – with the potential loss of around 900 jobs - earlier this month as its half year results showed a 47 per cent drop in profits before tax of £126 million.

It refused to name the locations as managers were in the process of informing staff, but has now identified the threatened branches, two of which are in Somerset – at Burnham-on-Sea and Clevedon.
