A ‘WINTER warmer’ event is being held in a West Somerset village next week for tenants and friends of Magna Housing.
Magna customers and people living in the surrounding community will be offered a safe, warm place to drop in for a hot drink, a light lunch, and some company.
It will take place between 11 am and 2 pm on Monday, February 12, in Magna’s community room in the sheltered housing scheme in Deane Close, Stogumber.
A spokesperson said: “Local people can pop along to the events for 10 minutes or the full length of the session to enjoy hot drinks and food, share conversation, or just to settle down somewhere safe and warm.”
Magna’s sheltered housing schemes offer homes for customers who need a little extra support to continue to enjoy independent living.
The Stogumber event follows one held in Healeys, Porlock, on Friday (January 29).
Magna grants and funding lead Kate Legg said: “Everybody who lives around the community rooms is invited to pop in and join us.
“They will find a warm welcome, refreshments served by colleagues from Magna, and the chance to win an air fryer or a slow cooker in our free prize draw.
“We know January and February can be tough months because of the shorter, darker days and the aftermath of Christmas, coupled with expensive energy bills and the high cost of living.
“This is about offering somewhere warm and safe for our communities, as well as the chance to build connections, tackle loneliness, and offer support.
“We are hoping local people will come along, whether with a friend, a family member, or on their own, to enjoy a drink and a chat.
“We are really grateful to grant funding from the South West Procurement Alliance (SWPA) and LHC Procurement Group which has allowed us to run these events.”
