SIR — Oh dear! Not another closure of a well-known chain store in the town, with Clinton Cards on the way out (Free Press, September 30).

There are some very good card shops in the town, so not so worried about that. But please, do not consider another charity shop in its place. The latest one is already pleading for stock.  

As much as one enjoys browsing in and supporting these excellent establishments, even the chance there is space for yet another one can clearly not be good for the overall look of the town. Minehead must have all the charity shops known to Man in the main shopping area at the moment!

Come on, get with it and give us some independent retailers for a change. They don't have to be  big - one realises the area is fairly 'depressed' - but so much more interesting, with loads more 'shopability',  don't you think?
