St Margaret’s Hospice Care invites the whole of the county to come together and be part of a very special Light up a Life remembrance event.

It is a chance to reflect on those we have loved and lost and celebrate their lives, and the wonderful memories we hold dear.

The charity is also using the event to raise money at a time when income generation and fundraising has been deeply affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Changing restrictions mean plans to bring this Light up a Life service from the Bishop’s Palace in Wells have had to be adapted, just as the hospice team have adapted their services during this year to ensure they can continue to care for patients during the pandemic.

By the power of technology, the Right Reverend Ruth Worsley, Bishop of Taunton, will still be able to join this special service which will now be held at the hospice.

The whole service will be available to watch through the St Margaret’s website on Sunday (December 13) at 4pm.

As well as Bishop Ruth, the service involves many of the hospice team sharing poems, prayers and songs.

At the heart of the service will be the many names of loved ones which families have shared during the Light up a Life campaign – this is a moment to pause and remember loved ones whether their name is featured in the service or not.

For those unable to tune in on Sunday, the service will be available to watch at any time through the St Margaret’s website.

Donations received during the campaign and beyond will go directly towards ensuring that St Margaret’s continues to be there for patients and their families across Somerset.
