WATCHET’s Esplanade Club defibrillator is now back on the wall outside the club after a new cabinet was officially inaugurated on Wednesday.
Thanks to the generosity of Esplanade Club committee member Alex Reynard and Watchet Town Council, the club was able to buy a brand new cabinet after the original old one was condemned after five years of being exposed to the elements.
Mr Raynard and Watchet mayor, Cllr Olivia Campbell officiated at the ceremony.
One of the first defibrillators in Watchet, it was originally funded by Esplanade Club members, the town council and the Harbour Bookshop.
Esplanade Club secretary, Helen Chave said: “The defibrillator occupied perhaps the most prominent position in the town and has been deployed many times. It has definitely saved lives including that of the German holidaymaker last year.
“Our thanks also to local electrician Mark Mossman, who put up the cabinet free of charge as a service to the community.”
