VISITORS to Tropiquaria, Washford Cross, were given a chance to support ‘Love Your Zoo Week’ during the schools’ half-term break.
It is an annual nationwide event, from May 25 to June 2, is organised by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquaria (BIAZA), where the member zoos and aquaria put on extra events to showcase their activities to the public.
Tropiquaria ran extra talks about some of its animals and gave everyone, including MP Ian Liddell-Grainger (pictured), a chance to meet some of its lemurs.
Director Chris Moiser said: “By selecting the half-term week, BIAZA enabled many more visitors to attend, together with their children.
“This in turn enabled us to give a larger number of public a chance to learn more about a number of conservation issues, and specifically with us to hear more about the plight of the ring-tailed lemur in Madagascar.”
Tropiquaria is currently open seven days a week from 10.30am until 5pm. For enquiries about group bookings phone 01984 640688.
