SIR — Some things are so predictable - day following night, colder weather in the autumn and winter, and people finding something to moan about.
What is the matter with some people? I refer to the front page report "Good for the economy, bad for drivers!" (Free Press November 29).
How can anyone seriously compare having a short section of Seaward Way closed for less than 24 hours to allow a BBC film crew to film, and which resulted in a short diversion, to the A39 closure which lasted for a couple of weeks and either grid-locked Watchet or sent motorists on a lengthy diversion, both in terms of mileage and time 'over the hills and faraway'?
Just how much long-term benefit the filming will bring to Minehead nobody knows, but if it helped fill a few guest houses out of season, and if it might bring a bit of money into the town in the future, and at the cost of some minor inconvenience, just what is the problem?
So I say to the angry and anonymous motorists, just think about the bigger picture and don't moan about something that, given the current economic situation both in Minehead and the UK in general, is very, very trivial.
