LOCAL produce supporter Joan Passmore picked up a box of some of the best when she tasted success in a Free Press competition. Joan, from Minehead, was the winner of a competition to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Brendon Hill Crafts. The company began creating quality preserves as a cottage industry on the eastern edge of Exmoor but now operates from a purpose-designed kitchen in Barnstaple. And by guessing correctly the year the business was launched, Joan won a box of six different award-winning preserves. "I do like to use local produce, which is why I entered this competition," she said. "But I didn't expect to win! It was a lovely surprise. "I've tasted some already and they are absolutely delicious." And Joan shared her luck with her two daughters, giving away a jar of jam and one chutney: "They were delighted," she said.
