PORLOCK residents are making a wish list of ways to improve the village’s recreation ground after the facility was given a “jaw- dropping” £700,000 legacy.
The massive donation, which came totally out the blue last week, was given by Susan Taylor, of Hawkcombe, a widow in her late 90s, who died last December.
And it transpired that she was also the anonymous benefactor who five years ago had given the recreation ground £12,000 for new playground equipment.
“We were naturally very grateful for that, but we have been absolutely blown away by the size of this latest legacy,” said Mike Lynch, chairman of the recreation ground’s management committee.

“This is a once-in-a lifetime chance, and we have to get it right.”
The recreation ground committee has asked residents to send in their suggestions by today (March 17). A detailed questionnaire will be sent out later.
