“Once again, it was really popular and successful,” said group member Cllr Richard Lillis. “People are already asking when the wheel will be back.
“The problem is there are only three wheels of this type and everyone wants them, but we will certainly do our best to book one for next summer.”
He said that consultations with nearby residents had this year reduced complaints to a minimum and the wheel was now a firm favourite with both residents and visitors seeking a bird’s eye view of the town.
Hours after the wheel was dismantled, it was on its way to become a main attraction at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
