VOLUNTEERS are needed to join a panel that will “help build a Hinkley legacy in Somerset”.
The Somerset Community Foundation (SCF), which will be managing the EDF Energy Community Fund, is calling for new members of the fund’s awards panel.
The deadline to apply is 5pm on Friday July 7 and shortlisted applicants will be interviewed during the week beginning July 17.
The fund is designed to lessen the impact of Hinkley Point C on the local communities by supporting projects that improve the social, economic and environmental well-being and enhance overall quality of life.
The awards panel will include representatives from EDF and SCF trustees, as well as local councils, but the SCF is also looking for up to three independent volunteers to help make decisions on applications to the multi-million pound fund.
They will also provide advice to the SCF board on the overall fund strategy.
Justin Sargent, the foundation’s CEO, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who knows Somerset well, particularly the area around Hinkley Point C, and who can think and act independently.”
To find out more about the role, visit www.somersetcf.org.uk or apply by sending a CV and covering letter to [email protected] or Somerset Community Foundation, Yeoman House, Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, BA4 6QN.
