CHILDREN from the Exmoor Coast Federation of schools have been busy drawing up some top tips to help both their parents and their friends stay safe online.

The year four youngsters from Cutcombe, Timberscombe, Dunster, St Dubricius, St Michael's and Minehead First Schools and year five pupils from Minehead Middle School got together to work on an e-safety leaflet and presentation.

"It was a fantastic opportunity for children from different schools to work together with a shared aim and we are looking forward to the finished project," senior Cutcombe First School teacher Laura Weaver said.

The finished leaflet will be distributed to parents across the federation and forms part of a wider e-safety awareness campaign.

The federation already has a set e-safety policy, while teachers, learning support assistants and governors have completed specialist e-safety training.

Mrs Weaver added: "The Exmoor Coast Federation's focus on e-safety has been for one common aim - to arm the children within our schools with the necessary skills needed to tackle e-safety issues at school and home, rather than simply keeping them protected and preventing them from learning how to deal with issues when they arise."
