SPOOKY season is almost upon us, and there are plenty of Halloween activities to keep you entertained around Wellington and Somerset this October!

Whether it is pumpkin picking or Halloween trails you are after, this is everything that is on in and around Wellington this October.

Minehead Butlin’s is gearing up to welcome more than 25,000 guests to its Halloween-themed ‘Spooktober’ holidays during October.

Prices for four nights at Minehead Butlin’s start at £39, with a spokesperson saying: “The resort will be transformed for Halloween, with the fairground becoming the Scareground after dark with unlimited rides.”

Pumpkin carving will also be returning at Butlin’s this October.

Pitt Farm in West Buckland is putting on Jolly Pumpkin Fest, where children and adults can pick their own pumpkins for £2-per-ticket. Carer and disabled access will admit two with a cost of £3.

They will be running their pumpkin picking from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday 10 & Sunday 11, Saturday 17 & Sunday 18, and Saturday 24 through to Saturday 31.

Thurloxton Farm and Birds Farm in Taunton are also providing pick your own pumpkin events throughout October.

Thurloxton Farm is on the A38 between Taunton and Bridgwater, with a ticket including one pumpkin, a spooky walk, a carving barn for the pumpkins and plenty of fun and games. They are open 10am to 4pm daily.

Birds Farm will open their PYO pumpkin service on October 3, open between 10am to 4pm, charging by the pumpkin. They will cost £5 for a small pumpkin, £8 for a medium pumpkin, and £12 for a large pumpkin.

Further out, Fairfield Pumpkins in Yeovil, and Halberton Court Farm Shop in Tiverton are also providing PYO pumpkins this year.

Fairfield Pumpkins in Yeovil charge £3 entry for adults, and £1 for children, while Halberton Court Farm Shop charges by the pumpkin, and booking is not required.

There are plenty of other activities for you to enjoy around Wellington at the end of October, that do not involve pumpkin picking!

Wellington Park is hosting Wellington Garden of Light on October 24, between 6.30pm to 9pm. There will be fuse fire and light performances, aerial dance, music, digital arts, film projections, and a light sculpture trail.

Entry will cost £2 for adults and £1 for children, while under 5’s go free.

The popular Halloween trail is back at Nynehead (National Trust)

Nynehead Court will also be hosting a free family event between Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October. Their free Halloween trail is held between 11am to 4pm, and on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29, there is a Halloween crafts workshop between 2pm to 4pm.

On Saturday 31, the Globe Inn Appley are hosting a ‘Spooktacular’ evening, including a silent disco, held from 7pm until late. The Skylark are hosting a pre-trick or treat party at 3pm on the same day.

Fancy heading out of Wellington? There are plenty of other events going on not too far away.

Stonegallows Inn in Taunton is hosting a ‘Halloween fun afternoon’ on October 31, with entry costing £7. The event will be held between 12pm to 4pm, and will include pumpkin carving, pebble painting, arts & crafts, and a kids meal, drink & dessert.

Rumwell Farm Shop is also hosting a children’s Halloween party, with two times of 12pm to 2pm and 4pm to 6pm available for booking.

Both times are on Saturday, October 31. Tickets will cost £17.50 for a child, which includes food, activities, and a pumpkin to decorate. Adult tickets are £9.50, including admission, a hot drink and a cake.

The Lawns Social Club in Taunton is also hosting The Firebirds rock ‘n’ roll Halloween special, with tickets costing £10 on the door, and the band set to start at 9pm.

Wookey Hole, Exmoor National Park and Cheddar Gorge are all hosting Halloween events of their own, for people looking for a bit of a longer day out.

Wookey Hole are running their Halloween event between October 3 and November 1, entry costing £24.65 for adults, £19.54 for children and £21.24 for seniors.

Exmoor National Park are running their Halloween Spooktakular between 6pm and 9pm on Saturday, October 31.

Cheddar Gorge are running their event during half-term in October, with entry to their Halloween event included in a day ticket. Adults entry costs up to £25.95, child entry is up to £19.45, while infants and essential companions go free.

National Trust properties Lytes Cary Manor and Dunster Castle are also both putting on Halloween events.

Dunster Castle will host ghost tours, which cost £25, and you must be over 13 to go on a ghost tour. There is a Halloween trail daily between 10am and 3.30pm at Lytes Cary Manor, costing £3.50-per-trail.
