Holi Moli Beach Hut at Dunster Beach has begun 2022 as a finalist in the Bristol Bath & Somerset Tourism Awards.

A previous winner in both the Dog Friendly and Self-Catering business of the year categories, Holi Moli is now one of the finalists in the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Award category.

Co-owner Brett Bates said the focus on being environmentally friendly started as early as the refurbishment of the beach hut with arepurpose and upcycle ethos, through to operating as an ethical business, encouraging guest participation in activities such as beach cleans and discovering eco-friendly alternatives to everyday products provided while supporting local independent companies.

"With so much focus recently on the climate crisis it is so welcome to have our efforts to be as environmentally conscious as possible highlighted by this prestigious award and to be chosen by our piers in the tourism industry," said Brett.

"As a business, we welcome all to holiday here in Somerset, experience unrivalled luxury in our 5-star beach hut and have the opportunity to try out some of our sustainable products on offer during their stay. We are proof that even as a small tourism provider it is possible to have an impact on public awareness of not just environmental issues but also some of the solutions".

The awards ceremony takes place virtually on Thursday, February 17, when the little beach hut business will discover if it is a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award this year or as Brett said "maybe it should just be a ’green’ award".
