WALKERS from across the county flocked to Wimbleball Lake on Sunday (March 25) to take part in an event that had been postponed because of the snow.
The Great Somerset Walk was held to raise funds for St Margaret’s which needs to raise over £9.5m each year to fund its end of life care services. Last year, the hospice cared for 3,800 people across Somerset.
It is not yet known how much was raised by the eight-mile walk as participants – many of whom were walking in memory of loved ones – are continuing to collect sponsorship.
Sonia Bateman, events co-ordinator at St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “The weather was perfect and everyone was really happy to be out enjoying the beautiful Somerset countryside.
“All the money raised will make a real difference by enabling us to deliver high quality, responsive and compassionate care to people in our community.”
