YOUNG sports stars in Porlock were presented with the village's top youth achievement award at the weekend in recognition of their hard work and dedication to their cause.

Young cricketers from Porlock Cricket Club were presented with the Porlock Youth Achievement Award by parish council chairman Cllr Alan Wright for their efforts in setting up regular training and helping with pitch preparation.

Under the guidance of captain Ryan Cape, the team had an excellent season and Cllr Wright praised them for their "outstanding" contribution to village life.

"Without them, there wouldn't have been a cricket team this year," Cllr Wright said.

The runner-up was Elsie Berry.
