IN the final game of the season at the beach ground, Kilve II dominating proceedings to beat Chard A by 102 runs.
Skipper Nick Hancock elected to bat and he and Tim Nash made a solid start against an accurate Chard attack.
Despite a barrage of short balls the openers batted confidently until, with the score on 30, Hancock was lbw for 14.
Ben Brewer and Nash then lifted the run rate but on 56 Brewer was bowled for 15 and when Pepsi Kohler was dismissed the score was 76-3.
The in-form Mark Thorne then set about the Chard bowlers but just as he was looking lset for a large total he was bowled for 21 in the 34th over with the score on 114.
Two quick wickets fell and it was left to Nash to patiently guide Kilve to their total of 152-6, the opener carrying his bat for 59.
Chard's reply started slowly, only nine coming off the first six overs, but then a major collapse took place as Martin Reading and Kohler, aided by notable catches by Brewer and Nash, ripped through the batting line up to leave them on 10-5.
This soon became 19-7 with excellent bowling by Kilve youngsters David Bland, Carl Clementson and Kevin Warre, showing great promise for next season.
The leg spin of Graham Tabrett then wrapped up the innings as he had Field stumped for 26, leaving Chard all out for 50.
Despite being relegated, the Kilve team have shown great promise over the last few weeks, with a mixture of young and established players, which should hold them in good stead for next year.
