MINEHEAD Baptist Church is hosting a food-packing event with the charity Feed the Hungry on Saturday afternoon (March 16).

The charity has taken food to places like Japan after the tsunami, Haiti after the earthquake, Syria and Ukraine during war and many African countries where there is acute poverty.

Starting at 2pm, the aim is to pack 10,000 dried food meals during the afternoon – but a lot of help is needed to achieve this.

There is a cost to running a food-packing event – the rice, soya, lentils and micronutrients are not free, and there is also the expense of the bags, boxes, labels and transport.

Anyone willing to join the production line for £5 and send a meal to someone in great need would be made very welcome.

Tickets cost £5 from Sally’s Vintage Chic in The Avenue, Under the Rainbow in Friday Street or on the door.
