WEST Somerset Railway have cancelled all daytime services for Friday, July 11 — including the limited-time-only Flying Scotsman run.

The cancellations are reportedly due to “operational issues”.

The legendary Flying Scotsman steam train has been running on the West Somerset Railway as part of the 200th anniversary celebration of the birth of the modern railway.

Services have been operating between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead since June 28, with static services on offer as well, for a limited two-week period until July 14.

Customers had to pre-book their tickets, some months in advance, costing £20 for a static visit and at least £50 for an adult journey on the Scotsman.

A spokesperson for the West Somerset Railway said: “Due to operational issues all planned daytime services for Friday, July 11, are cancelled.

“We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and a decision will be made regarding Friday evening services during the morning.

“All affected customers have been contacted.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and will provide further updates as soon as they are available.”
