THE Samphire Festival, which launched this year in Porlock, won Small Festival of the Year at a glittering awards ceremony in Bath last week – where the Samphire organisers were also keynote speakers.

And they were in good company - the 13th National Outdoor Events Association awards ceremony in Bath’s Pump Rooms also saw Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis awarded for his 40 years of inspiration to outdoor events, along with a host of event and festival organisers from around the UK.

“When we heard our name read out, we were both so shocked and happy,” said Samphire co-founder Flora Blathwayt who, along with Josh Beauchamp, talked about their journey to success, when they were key note speakers at the ceremony.

“All I can really remember though is Michael Eavis hugging us when we got off the stage – it was a pretty special moment I hope I never forget.”

The ceremony celebrates the best events in the country.
