SIR — For years there have been two very nice seats outside Alcombe Village Hall which were very much used by the elderly folk.

It was a nice place to sit and meet up with neighbours after shopping - some elderly people are lonely and they looked forward to socializing there.

Suddenly one was taken away for repairs many months ago - but has never returned.

I spoke to the council about it and they told me that they couldn't afford to get it repaired or replaced as they had no money.

I see a lot of waste as far as councils are concerned eg the obsolete information bureau on the seafront at Minehead, there are many other things too numerous to mention.

Surely one seat wouldn't break the bank but would give pleasure to some of the elderly that live in Alcombe.
