A CAPACITY audience, many in costume, filled Porlock Village Hall for the Exmoor Victorian Evening on Friday (December 8).
Chairman and Master of Ceremonies John Hill enthusiastically steered the programme, introducing each item in true Music Hall alliterative fashion and wielding an emphatic gavel.
The show began with some carols from a quartet of small children.
They were followed by local folk duo Martyn and Lorraine Babb on accordion and fiddle, with some jokes thrown in for good measure.
The Minehead Hand Bell Ringers, led by Ros Lawton, then played familiar tunes before The Carollers presented a selection of traditional Exmoor carols.
A Dylan Thomas comedy monologue was performed by from John Thorne and the first half concluded with a Music Hall medley with audience participation.
The evening closed with a short melodrama with an unexpectedly happy ending.
Piano accompaniment was by Nigel Greenwood.
