THE all-male acapella four-part harmony chorus The Rivertones, based in Taunton, will be taking to the stage at the Regal Theatre, Minehead, on Friday (September 12) as part of its annual variety show.
The Rivertones singing style is based on a wonderful barbershop background and they will perform four songs during the evening adding their distinctive sound to a line-up which showcases the very best of West Somerset’s talent.
The variety show brings together performers from drama, music, and dance, alongside the Regal’s member companies and special guest acts, in what promises to be a truly entertaining night.
One of the songs featured will be the ever-popular ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ and The Rivertones will be accompanied on stage by some of the theatre’s own young club members dressed in costumes from ‘The Lion King’.
Watchet Community Choir will also be taking part in the show.
While the show itself raises much-needed funds for the upkeep of the Regal, including essential repairs to the venue’s only lift to the upstairs auditorium, a special bucket collection will also be held on the night to raise money to support families affected by the tragic Minehead Middle School coach crash in July.
Graham Blight, singout/bookings secretary for The Rivertones said: “We are honoured to be part of this year’s variety show at the Regal Theatre.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to help support the theatre, which is such an important venue for the community, and at the same time raise money for those impacted by the school coach crash.
“We would d encourage everybody to come along, enjoy a great evening of entertainment, and bring some cash with them to donate if they can.”
Tickets priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children are available from the Regal box office on 01643 706430 or online.
