AN open day is being held on Saturday (June 20) for West Somerset residents to learn about the healthcare facilities on their doorsteps.

The matron and staff of Minehead Community Hospital are inviting people to pop in and tour the premises between 11 am and 3 pm.

Earlier, a private tour will be held for the district’s GPs and local councillors and other guests.

The hospital is operated by the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust which also runs Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.

The event is being supported by the League of Friends of Minehead Hospital, which raises funds to purchase equipment the NHS cannot provide.

The hospital includes an Urgent Treatment Centre to save people with minor injuries having to travel to Taunton, inpatient care, and diagnostic clinics.
