A MINI ‘Chelsea Flower Show’ is coming to Watchet for its second year.

The Watchet Gardening Show will be returning with a range of garden-related shopping, a flower show, competitions, and entertainment for all ages, on Sunday, July 20,

This year’s show will be taking place at Watchet’s War Memorial Ground and Pavilion, where visitors will be able to enjoy music performed by West Somerset Brass Band, admire the array of vegetables and flowers on show, and discover more about charities such as RSPB, Watchet Hedgehogs, and the Moorland Mousie Exmoor Pony Trust.

In the old pavilion, the 1st Watchet Sea Scout Group will be raising funds and providing tea and coffee.

A new class for this year invites other local gardening clubs, garden businesses and individuals to make a small garden display of flowers, plants, and materials like a mini Chelsea Show garden. This will be an outdoor class and all needs to be portable in pots or vessels so can easily be removed at the end of the show.

Watchet Mayor Cllr Loretta Whetlor is donating a trophy in memory of her husband for the winning garden display and will be presenting this prize. Organic gardener Charles Birch, 96, who has decades of experience, will be judging this class alongside Loretta.

Entries for this class that are already expected have come from Minehead Gardening Club, Watchet Gardening Club and one of the local charities. Watchet Gardening Club's entry is a union jack colour themed commemorative display in honour of the 80th VE Day year.

Entry forms available at three locations in Watchet Co-op on Liddymore Road, Albert's Ardware in Swain St, and schedules and forms in the Visitor Centre at the Boat Museum. There is a 15-mile restriction radius for entries.
