A MOTH watch is one of several free family events being held in a West Somerset village community orchard where more than 200 species have been recorded.

The hunt for moths using a light trap between 8.30 pm and 10 pm on Saturday (August 15) will round off activities in Carhampton.

Earlier, visitors of all ages are invited to have fun looking for butterflies and bugs from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.

As well as finding minibeasts, there will be wildlife facts and quizzes, and a ‘whose poo?’ challenge.

More information on the activities day can be obtained by emailing to [email protected] or calling 01643 821756.

The volunteer-run orchard has 37 varieties of apple trees, including some rare and ancient ones, and pears and plums.
