ABOUT 50 properties on the edge of the Quantock Hills were without electricity for a short time on Sunday morning (August 9).

The outage was reported shortly before 8 am and National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) said it was likely to be about 11 am before supplies could be restored.

However, engineers were able to reconnect the affected homes and businesses in the triangular area between Over Stowey, Dodington, and Nether Stowey by 9.20 am.

A NGED spokesperson said the power cut had been caused by a fault on the high voltage power lines and it was ‘sorted as a priority’.

The spokesperson told customers: “Thank you for your patience during this time.

“We are committed to maintaining reliable power to your community.”
