I was dismayed to discover that Somerset Skills and Learning is facing such dire cuts that it is presently not taking requests for admission to courses.
Some of the subjects like sign language can only be accessed via Somerset Skills.
Being unable to attend classes can exacerbate isolation already experienced by many people, and this will inevitably affect their mental health and consequently their physical well being.
Those seeking to improve their career chances are going to be penalised. Education at any age should be a right and not regarded as a luxury.
I hope, but fear it is a forlorn hope, that our MP will make strong representations and campaign vigorously to save the education and the jobs of those providing this service .
