DUNSTER businesses will be pulling out all the stops and sprinkling a touch of magic when they take part in the village’s first ever Best Christmas Window competition.
Thirty-three businesses have so far pledged to decorate their windows in time for the start of the competition on November 30, with the public guided through a Christmas trail of the main shopping streets.
Visitors will be the judges of the competition, and will be able to vote for their favourite Christmas window at a ballot box set up in the Yarn Market, in the village centre. Those taking part will have their windows numbered.
The competition is being organised by Dunster Tourism Forum, the traders’ association, after shop owner Nina Dodd approached them with the idea.

“It’s such a lovely village and it’s nice to have a free event that children and adults can all take part in. It’s also good that the people who come to see the windows will be the judges.”
Everyone who votes will be able to enter a prize draw, where they can win a bespoke, made-to-measure garden gate, a weekend for two at the Yarn Market Hotel, and a gift voucher for Dunster Living Interior shop.
The winning window and prize draw will be announced on December 29 at www.discoverdunster.info and on its social media pages.
