AN inquest has been unable to determine how a Minehead man known to be a hoarder came to die in his own home.

Area coroner Vanessa McKinlay heard Geoffrey Andrews, aged 71, was not found until some time after he died, by when there had been ‘significant post-death changes’ in his body.

Mr Andrews, who was a drayman, lived alone in Market House Lane and would not even allow family to enter his house or accept any help.

Police attended his home last October after concern for his welfare was raised and on entering found Mr Andrews dead.

Post mortem investigations were unable to give a medical cause of death because of the delay in finding him.

Ms McKinlay recorded an ‘open’ conclusion and ‘unascertained’ cause of death.
