CHILDREN from four Exmoor schools who took part in a recent 'Water Bugs and Beasties' workshop at Wimbleball Lake were presented with prizes on Thursday.

The workshop was part of an open day organised by South West Lakes Trust and it included a drawing competition.

Taking part were pupils of Exford First School, All Saints at Dulverton, Wiveliscombe Primary and East Anstey Primary, and their drawings were judged by trust chairman James Cairns Boston.

Ashley Clinkscales, of Exford First School, came first for a drawing of a stonefly nymph. Second was Michael Sandford, of All Saints, for a dragonfly nymph, and equal third were Emma Bashford, of Wiveliscombe Primary, for a water boatman, and Alannah Bedwell, of All Saints, for a dragonfly nymph.

Their prizes, which included framed copies of their winning work, were presented by the trust's education officer Liz Eagles.

"We were very impressed with the enthusiasm and good behaviour shown by all the children throughout the Meet the Trust Day," said Liz, pictured presenting Ashley with his prize.

"There were some wonderful examples of co-operation shown as pupils made windfall sculptures, and everyone was very attentive during the nature walk and the storytelling.

"The children were a credit to their schools."
