IT was a dream come true for Dan Sully last Friday (August 17) when he proudly showing his Dexter cows in the ring at Dunster Show.
Dan, who has been severely disabled from birth with Athetoid cerebral palsy, is wheelchair-bound, requires 24-hour care and can only speak through a specially programmed machine.
He won the hearts of Free Press readers and others, earlier this year, when he started a £3,500 crowdfunding appeal to buy a cost-price 4×4 wheelchair, after his old one broke down and he was unable to visit his beloved cows in their field for six months.
His dream of taking part at Dunster Show was put on ice – but the appeal was so successful, within 28 days he could buy the wheelchair and intensive training began for the big day last Friday.
Dan showed his first-ever cow Honeysuckle at Dunster Show, in the dry cow class, and mother and calf Jade and Nettie in the cow and calf section. Buy today’s Free Press to see how they got on.
