A GRANDFATHER and his son-in-law cycled 400 miles from London to Paris and back in atrocious weather to raise funds for a special charity that helped save baby Scarlett and support her parents.

Scarlett, whose parents and grandparents are from Alcombe, was in intensive care for four weeks at St Michael’s Hospital, in Bristol, after she was born last August.

Her parents Lauren Soxhall and Ben Richards were able to stay near her at a special house in the hospital grounds, provided by the charity Cots for Tots.

The family were so bowled over by the support they received, grandfather Damon Price and Ben decided to undertake a sponsored cycle ride on July 22 – and have now raised over £2,000 for the charity.

The Cots for Tots Appeal is the charity supporting Bristol’s Special Care Baby Unit at St Michael’s Hospital. It also runs Cots for Tots House, minutes from the unit, which provides free accommodation for families of premature and critically ill babies.
