A CURRY night held at the Bengal Spice restaurant in Williton has raised over £400 for Stand Against Speed 4 Bethany.
The money will go towards the charity’s work of educating 16 to 25-year-olds on driver awareness, through a special go-karting course run by PC Dave Adams of Avon and Somerset Police.
The charity was set up by the family of Bethany Adams, 17, of Williton, who was killed in a car crash in 2012 while a passenger in a car driven by a newly qualified young driver.
He lost control on a bend and crashed into a tree, and Bethany took the full impact and died instantly.
The driver awareness courses, called Choice and Consequence, cost £30 and are paid for by the charity, and some will be running over the winter.
Those attending the programmes benefit from both classroom based discussions and presentations, and go-kart track sessions, helping young people identify and negotiate hazards.
Bethany’s sister, Danielle Adams, is pictured with some of the Bengal Spice staff at the charity event.
