WORK started on Monday (February 2) on a £150,000 wheeled sports park to replace an existing skatepark in Watchet.

The facility off South Road should be ready for an opening by the end of March, about a month earlier than originally anticipated.

Dorset-based specialist Maverick has been working on the plans with the town council, which gave the project £26,000 and obtained grants to cover the remainder of the cost.

The council is providing safe and dedicated spaces for people to practice and enjoy a wide range of wheeled sports to promote an active lifestyle.

Wheeled sports parks are designed for activities including skateboarding, scootering, and BMX biking.

They feature obstacles and installations such as ramps, ledges, rails, and bowls to accommodate different skill levels and ages.
