Dogs and their well-behaved owners are invited to the first community dog walk-and-talk charity event organised by the new owners of Minehead’s Jubilee Café on Sunday to raise funds for the Dogs’ Trust.

Starting at 10am, walks will vary from the harbour and back, to the golf course, and even as far as Dunster Beach and Blue Anchor.

Owners can register at the café from 9am and a £5 fee will go to the dog charity.

New owner Melanie Rose-Gale said: “This is our first charity event to raise much-needed funds for the Dogs’ Trust. The café is dog-friendly and wants to welcome locals, visitors and their four-legged friends.”

Dog-walkers reaching Dunster or Blue Anchor can return on the West Somerset Railway – a voucher allows dogs to travel free.

From 11.30am there will be talks in the café by the RNLI on coastal walking and safety and from Amy Ringham on the work of the Dogs’Trust.

Dogs can enjoy a free doggie ice cream or cup cake and will receive a bandana as a memento of a special day out.
