Sunday Big Band Jazz

CICCIC have a Big Band residency! Not many places in the UK that can say that. Is it just us and Ronnie Scotts?

Come and enjoy a big band jazz session before your Sunday lunch! The atmosphere is always friendly, and the cafe/bar is open for the duration for alcoholic, hot and cold drinks.

Over the coming months, on the 3rd Sunday of the month, there is going to be one amazing set performed from a 17 piece big band at lunchtime. Each month will be a different theme with different tunes. That’s a hard thing to do, but it also keeps it fresh and exciting. Which is what CICCIC is all about.

The Sunday Big Band is a collaboration between different Big Band musicians. There is a jazz tradition of ‘workshopping’ tunes in public, but we are going to save you the workshopping and just bring you the good stuff.

Tickets £13 online or £16 on the door. (Booking online is the only guarantee of entry as these concerts are very popular!).

Sunday March 17, 12:15pm -1:45pm.

Right of Way

Half submerged in a cramped bathtub, and flooded by her grief, Beth decides to walk the South West Coast Path – in choosing to walk, grow, and to reclaim space, she finds radical joy.

Using lyrical movement and projections of the Coast Path, RIGHT OF WAY explores our intimate connection with the coastline, bodies of water and our heritage. Written while walking the South West Coast Path, it is an autobiographical and embodied reflection on disability, chronic illness and being a Young Carer. RIGHT OF WAY features integrated creative captioning as part of the video design.

Fresh from a 5 star, award-nominated run at VAULT Festival, in partnership with Devon Carers, the South West Coast Path Association and Arts & Culture Exeter. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

★★★★★ “It straddles the line between poetry and theatre in an exquisite exploration of the “landscape of grief”” Broadway World

★★★★★ “Raw, heartbreaking, and altogether beautiful, Beth Bowden’s semi-autobiographical Right of Way is a poetic jewel waiting to be uncovered.” Everything Theatre.

Friday March 22, 7:45pm - 8:45pm. £ 11.50 - £ 15.50.
