SIR — Re Susan Ayshford’s letter about rubbish dumped on the A39 (Free Press Janaury 13), what does she think would happen if the council cleared this rubbish away the moment it’s dumped?

I think all these disgusting thoughtless brainless people would be dumping anywhere and everywhere if the council was clearing up behind them.

Perhaps the council could put some notices up stating that there are cameras along these routes and also stating the amount of fine when caught - and also make sure the threat and fines are upheld.
