MARTIN Chandler, manager of the Minehead Cancer Research shop, grew very attached to his black bushy beard but he decided to shave it off.
He took the drastic step to raise money in support of World Cancer Day and to raise money for research into cancer – and he raised over £800 in sponsorship money.
Martin sat in the shop window on Monday (February 5) so passers-by could see Lisa Harding, from Shades hairdressers, shave his beard He raised over £800 in sponsorship money.
Andy Priddy, from Priddy’s Photo Shop, took photographs to record the event.
“Martin found this a hair raising experience!”, said assistant shop manager Pegs Richardson.
“But we are all very proud of him for doing it. We would like to thank all sponsors for their support – we couldn’t do it without them.”
