THE final chapter of the ‘Downton Abbey’ story arrives at Watchet Community Cinema this January.
After more than a decade of drama, romance and unforgettable characters, ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ will be screened on Friday, January 16 at Watchet Community Cinema.
‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ is a sequel to ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’ and is the third and final in the Downton Abbey franchise.
This last chapter of the global phenomenon follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter the 1930s.
When Mary finds herself at the centre of a public scandal and the family faces financial trouble, the entire household grapples with the threat of social disgrace.
The Crawleys must embrace change as the staff prepares for a new chapter with the next generation leading Downton Abbey into the future.
The film beautifully pays tribute to the show's legacy and brings out the strengths of each character as they adapt to a new era; a farewell truly befitting the Crawleys.
Many of the original franchise's cast members, who also appeared in the previous two films, return.
Paul Giamatti and Dominic West reprise their roles as Harold Levinson from the television series and Guy Dexter from the previous film, respectively, while Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan join the cast.
The film received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $102.7-million worldwide.
At Watchet Community Cinema, doors open at 6.30 pm and the film starts at 7 pm.
Tickets are available on the door.
