DULVERTON could get two more local needs affordable homes after plans were submitted to Exmoor National Park Authority's planning committee. Magna West Somerset Housing Association has applied for permission to build a bungalow on the corner or Amory Road and Barns Close. And a separate application has been submitted for an existing garage at Kings Corner to be converted into a local needs home. Committee members will be told the bungalow would be of a simple design and be in character with surrounding properties. Although an objection had raised safety concerns about the proposed location, officers will advise the committee the layout is not considered to pose a highway danger. The committee will be told that a housing needs survey conducted by Dulverton Town Council identified a demand for at least 26 units of affordable local needs housing in the town. National park officers and town councillors have since been working together to identify possible sites to meet demand. Meanwhile, plans to convert a double garage into a one-bedroom home at Kings Corner also attracted objections, although officers will tell committee members they believe the proposals are "acceptable".
