THE results are in, and the chairman of Dunster Show has commended exhibitors for contributing to another great event.

The fourth heatwave of the UK summer bathed the 177th annual Dunster Show in sunshine this year, helping ensure bumper crowds visited for a unique opportunity to see the best of West Somerset farming and livestock.

Taking stock a month on, John Brewer, chairman of the Dunster Show Society, told the Free Press: "Dunster Show this year was a huge success with a tremendous number of visitors through the gate again. Our wonderful show continues to grow and offer a fabulous celebration of the countryside and West Somerset in particular.

“Entry numbers across all sections, horse, cattle and sheep remain strong and growing in many areas and we saw some fabulous competition throughout the day. It was great to see so many people, young and old enjoying the show. Although we sadly had to cancel the grand parade of cattle and sheep on welfare grounds due to the increasing heat in the afternoon, there was so much going on within the main ring, village green, shopping village and livestock areas that the crowds remained entertained, right to the end of the day.

“We would like to thank your wonderful visitors, volunteers, competitors and traders for supporting the 177th Dunster Show and look forward to welcoming you all back on August 21, 2026.”
