SIR — I feel that congratulations are in order to West Somerset Council and the Free Press for producing West Somerset Matters, which is both interesting and informative.

It is useful to have photographs of all our esteemed councillors on the penultimate page so that we may recognise them in off-guard moments pushing their supermarket trolleys or walking their dogs.

A word of caution, however, should you be trying to email Minehead mayor Simon Stokes, because he seems to have been given Cllr Norman Hercock's address and telephone number, which could lead to some soap opera misunderstandings...

There is also some whymsical humour to be found on the front page, where we see leader of the council Keith Ross erecting a sign warning of the dangers of jumping and diving off the pier - especially in the circumstances as shown with the tide out halfway to Penarth.

The undoubted star of the whole production is the photogenic Cllr Kate Kravis, whose multi-tasking talents include inspecting new homes, driving a caterpillar digger, mastering the controls of a mobility scooter and laying concrete blocks. What a gal!

Given her uncanny resemblance to Nigella Lawson, it was surprising not to find included a cookery page in which she was knocking up something nutritious for a family of eight for under a tenner.

Perhaps an idea for a future issue?
