A NEW pie could soon be helping to give Porlock’s blossoming oyster industry an extra boost.
Taking the starring role are Porlock Bay Oysters, along with Exmoor venison and Exmoor Beast ale.
The pie has been created by the hotel’s head chef Barrie Tucker after a chance conversation over a few beers in the bar led to the idea of using oysters to produce a distinctive pie.
Porlock Bay Oysters come from the first Pacific Oyster site in England and Wales to achieve the top A classification for quality from the Food Standards Agency.
And the community interest company created to grow the fledgling industry, Porlock Futures, is now producing enough for them to be able to supply local restaurants and food outlets around Exmoor.
